Tuesday 30th May

I'm over it... man flu that is!! Should be going out on the bike tomorrow after work!! The first for a long time!!

On the housing front... still waiting for Mr Solicitor to get his arse in gear and get "searching" on those local searches!! Probably find out their building a motorway/loony bin next door... should fit in fine there then - hang on... the house IS actually opposite a mental institute already... D'oh!!

Quite a few more donations/sponsors since Friday so thanks goes to: Kingsley Blease, Simon Ryalls, Paul Harrison and Simon Wick. Thanks for your support and good luck in your predictions, although why your all backing England is beyond me... Brazil all the way baby!! :)

Only kidding... I'll be backing my Anglo Saxon brothers really!!

Now got over 20 people in on the World Cup Prediction Competition and I'm sure as the 9th June creeps up that'll get a lot higher. Really happy with the response so far. Quite a few people have been giving more than the £10 entry fee and I'm so grateful for that.

Palmer technical/product guru Jonathan Smith has been helping me arrange this competition and has (I'm sure) broken some international spam regulations/laws in trying to get as many people to join as possible. Thanks for all your hard work and efforts Jon, it's paying off!!

My minimum target of £2500 for Cancer Research is nearly hit, although I've set an actual target of £3000 I think I'll hit this with ease and hopefully get alot more.

St Anne's Hospice fundraising has been slightly slower than my Cancer Research UK fundraising. This could be due to personal reasons (I can understand not supporting a charity you've never heard of) although I have to admit I've been more keen to reach my target for Cancer Research UK first, which as it happens is nearly there. As soon as I hit £2500 for Cancer Research UK, St Anne's will have my full fundraising attention :)

Had an email from a certain company today confirming they are willing to donate some items for auction/raffle. More on this to come...

See... spam does pay :)

Friday 26th May

Sorry for no posts since Monday. Once again Blogger seems to be having problems or is that me??

Haven't been out on the bike for ages now and can't see it happening this weekend due to the worse case of manflu I've ever experienced. Been feeling ill since Wednesday but today I was literally bed ridden :(

There's been more people joining in my world cup competition so a few thankyous to go to: Paul "new york, new york" Kelly, Watto, WPRC and J Rickard and Mr Gabb. Thankyou all for your support and good luck with your world cup predictions.

Also a massive thanks to my mate David Gabbidon (Gabbi Motors - Newport) who's kindly asked his brother Hammer Defender Danny Gabbidon (Hammer of the Year award) for a signed football from the West Ham United Football team!! It was signed on the momentous night of the FA Cup Final!!

West Ham Squad Signed Football for Auction

I hope to get this auctioned soon with all the proceeds going to charity. Just need to get some interest from the genuine hardcore West Ham fans... I'll be visiting some footy forums in the next few days to try and get the interest started :)

In the meantime, if you are interested in making a starting bid, let me know!!

Would also to give a shout to my best good mate who now resides in Med-hat Canada, Dale Jones. He was proudly serving for queen and country but after a few tours of Ireland and Iraq he met a beautiful Canadian woman, got married and had a baby girl, Cerys Ann. He's kindly donated a new digital video camera for documenting my training/events... Cheers mukka!!

He's always moaning I never mention him so...

Those DPM's don't work indoors mate!!

Thursday 18th May

No training today... still trying to sort out this house buying business. Maaan it's hard work!! and the stress... and I haven't even brought the house yet!!

Having a survey done tomorrow... £300 for some guy to kick the walls and say "yup, it's not falling down" is just a rip off if you ask me. Still, without it I can't get the mortgage :(

Apparently next year the government are bringing out a home buyers pack where the seller has to provide a survey for prospective buyers!! Hear hear I say, it's hard enough as it is for us first time buyers, so not having to fork out hundreds for a survey on a house you like is good news!!

Had a few more sponsors... Joyce (aka my Mum. LOL I don't know why she's pretending to be anomynous. I haven't got the heart to tell her Justgiving emails me the full name of the person sponsoring you, hehe), Sarah Smith, Eddie Moir and Rob Fish. Many thanks to you all for you kind donations and words of encouragement!!

Sent a few more emails to some companies asking if they can help my cause. Trying to get as many companies advertising on my site as I can in time for the 24hr Mountain Meyhem (June). Should prove to be a great advertising campaign for both my site and the companies who have helped!!

Still need to get a design done for our team t-shirts for the 24hr Race in June... there's just not enough hours in the day!!

*Sunday 14th May

Wow...

I think I may have brought a house yesterday... no wait... I did buy a house yesterday. Well, my offer has been accepted and now it's just a case of getting the legal bods involved :)

Viewed it Friday 4pm, put an offer in 5pm. Estate agents rang yesterday morning to say it's been accepted!! And I managed to knock off 5k from the asking price :D

Could be moved in within a month. Arrghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

No training yesterday. Forgot it was my mates (Dale Tyler) 30th and the FA Cup Final was on and our Gabbidon was playing. Was an amazing match (probably the best FA Cup Final ever!!) which ended up Liverpool beating us in penalties, we was robbed. Really gutted for West Ham as they were by far the better team on the day.

Got out today with Dave "like a whippet" Daniels... 32 miles!! And, considering I haven't been able to get on the bike for the last 2 weeks, we done it in record time. Just over 2.5 hrs, averaging 13 mph, this was the longest and fastest ride this year so far!! We done good so rewarded ourselves with a nice pint in the Greenhouse (Cwmbran), mmmm Strongbow in the beer garden on a hot summers day, can't fault it!!

No aches or pains but I did get a pretty major stitch about 4 miles from home. Just a case of riding through it. No pain no gain as they say...

Thursday 11th May

No training, again!! Was a prefect evening for a long one as well. Will definitely get out on the weekend, I've got some making up to do.

Been looking online for houses all night, I've a real urgency to get my own place!! Just can't get over how expensive they are. Even flats are hitting the 100K mark and that’s just stooopid prices for a flat in Cwmbran!!

Had an amazing day of sponsors, some from my World Cup Competition (link below) and a massive £100 donation from a very kind Director of mine. Thanks Andy :)

Would also like to thank Mike Loughlin and Dr. Mike Cottam for their kind donations, many thanks to you both!!

Special message to Richard Barnsley: Thanks for entering the comp but England... win the World Cup!?!?! No chance :D

Now over half way on my Cancer Research UK target of £3000, and I've raised over £600 for St Anne's Hospice as well. Thank you all for your support!!

Team Captain Rob "I'm a Pro" Windmill mailed me earlier, wasn't very happy with his "I'm a Pro" title.

So...

Rob "I like really tight lycra" Windmill... what title would you like sir?? :P

Wednesday 10th May

Kick Off!! My World Cup Competition is in full sail and already raising money and lots of interest :)

http://www.cycle4charity.org/wc06/home.htm

No blog since Saturday!! (maaan that's bad!!) But not my fault...

Creating/Organising the World Cup Competition wasn't easy work and this last week has pretty much been me testing umpteen (around 12) online systems. All that takes time, alot of it. Along with real work, maintaining my websites, emailing companies (most don't even reply), I really don't know where the time goes, so I've not been out on the bike for over a week now :(

Anyway... swiftly changing the subject. The SAAB 24 HR Mountain Meyhem website is up and running and after an email from our team captain (Rob "I'm a Pro" Windmill) today, I've realised it's only about 6 weeks away!! Time to get serious!!

Tuesday 2nd May

No cycling tonight as I actually had a Spanish class, the first for about 6 weeks.

Think I need to start looking into getting a decent excercise bike or a turbo trainer. At least that way I can still get some training in late at night when I get in. It's too dark and too much hastle to get all the gear on, pack my kit, fill the camel, check tyres, brakes, gears etc... (when your on a 20+ bike ride the last thing you want if for your bike to go wrong!!) be so much easier for the week nights just to have an excercise bike, although I disagree it's as tough as "real" cycling!!

Had another sponsor today, thanks Sue :)

Hope to do some work on the World Cup Sweep Stake this week. Could be a global thing with the help of some work collegues and their contacts etc... everyone loves the World Cup and for £10 you can win a few hundred pounds whilst raising money for the charities!! I think it'll be a winner...
